Kicking My Future Self's Butt
Tuesday, June 4, 2013
Because I'm always on a quest to make myself a better person I have enrolled in Rosetta Thurman's 31 Days to Reset Your Life program. I met Rosetta at a conference I attended in North Carolina last year and she really inspired me. Prior to meeting her I was already subscribed to her Happy Black Woman Blog.
One of the assignments in the program is to write a love letter to your future self and then e-mail it yourself through FutureMe.org, which allows you to send an e-mail to your future self. After I completed the assignment I thought about using the website a lot more often.
When life isn't ideal it is very easy to forget all our blessings. On days like today, where I am very happy and satisfied with life, I'm going to send an e-mail to myself from a week, or a month, in the future, listing all the reasons why I am happy, in hopes that I can remind myself in a time where I might not be so happy all the wonderful blessings I have.
As I go through this 31 day program, I'm sure there will be other blog posts to come about things I discover.
What would you like to tell your future self?
I love this concept :)

DeleteGreat to hear that you're doing the Reset, LaNeshe! I hope the process is useful to your journey :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Deletehmmm... i really have to think about this one. this is pretty darn interesting. enjoy your journey and i can't wait to hear what about it!
ReplyDeleteNice idea! I have no idea what I'd tell myself. I look forward to reading more about your goals and progress.
ReplyDeleteI love the concept as well and you've got to update us once you're done with the 31 days. You know I did something like this back in middle school and we did it in the beginning of the year, then opened up the letter at the end of the year. I really don't remember what I wrote or what I felt when I read it again, so definitely would like to try to do this again. Thanks for sharing her website and keep up the positive attitude!
ReplyDeleteLove this! I did it a while ago (but I didn't finish. Boo) and I'm thinking about doing it again next month because my situation changed so much.
